Wind a factor in light aircraft bungalow crash, AAIB report finds

A pilot who smashed a light aircraft into a bungalow had been trying to abort a landing because of a sudden change in the wind, a report has found.

The 73-year-old suffered a serious back injury in the accident near Castle Bytham, Lincolnshire, in November.

Pilot, 73, escapes with cuts and bruises

A 73-year-old man has miraculously escaped with cuts and bruises after his light aircraft crashed through the roof of a bungalow in Lincolnshire.

The pilot of the small aeroplane had to be freed from the wreckage by emergency crews after his aircraft came down on the farm building outside Castle Bytham, south of Grantham, just after 2pm.

Celebrate 10 years of The Spinney in Little Bytham

A 10th anniversary celebration takes place at The Spinney in Little Bytham tomorrow (Saturday).

Many village residents could lose their mobile library services if county council proposals are approved following a consultation.

Lincolnshire County Council needs to cut £2m from its annual £6m library budget by 2015.

It has launched a consultation on proposals to revamp the entire library system, with mobile services included.
