Warning to lock vehicles after Castle Bytham thefts

Police are reminding the public to secure their vehicles after thieves stole items from unlocked cars.

Two Castle Bytham residents had their cars entered ovenight between Thursday and Friday, when they were left unlocked parked on their driveways.

Six-year-old twins from Castle Bytham to cycle six miles for charity

Proving that you’re never too young to start fundraising, a pair of six-year-old twins have signed up to take part in a six-mile bike ride at Rutland Water in aid of Diabetes UK.

Ben and Gracie Stevenson from Castle Bytham will be cycling in the charity’s Big Bike Ride on June 29, alongside their mum Julia Miner.

Doggy day care is a great success story

An entrepreneurial mother who set up her own pet-sitting business two years ago has seen demand grow at such an exceptional rate that she has recruited two apprentices.

Tracey Longmuir, who lives in Corby Glen, launched ISIS Pet Care to offer dog owners a service where their animals are looked after the way they would be at home.

Pat Bowles Awarded an MBE

Tireless community stalwart Pat Bowles has been rewarded for her efforts with an MBE in the New Year honours list. Pat, 80, who lives in Castle Bytham, was nominated for the honour for the huge amount of volunteer work she does – including running an international charity aimed at protecting the rare Caspian horse.

She said: “I was somewhat flabbergasted when I found out. It was such a surprise.”
