Edna Margaret Hopkins

Died 24 December 2010, Aged 91 years. Funeral at St James Church Castle Bytham on 11 January 2011 at 1.30pm, followed by cremation.

Edna is remembered as a woman with a passion for flowers! Of her many contributions to the Parish Church, her superb arrangement of flowers, and teaching of others to do the same are remembered vividly. She was born in Ampthill in Bedfordshire, and married Bert, a keen rugby player in 1941.  She herself played tennis well. She ran her own hairdressing business. They lived in a variety of places, due to Bert`s work, moving to Castle Bytham when he retired in the 1980s. Bert, Stephen, Michael , Pauline and many friends, remember a strong and determined woman with high standards and a real sense of fun and adventure, and someone who, towards the end of her life, coped very bravely with the loss of her sight and increasing frailty. To the end of her days, Edna was a woman of great faith, receiving Holy Communion at home every week,  and she and Bert were very grateful for all the support and practical help they received from family and friends.
